April recap, how many people saw the Easter egg guide?! Wow!

Welcome to the Kati Keksi monthly newsletter, bringing together the latest content from the Kati Keksi website as well as highlights from social media including Facebook and Instagram.

Welcome to my latest newsletter covering everything that's been happening on Kati Keksi in April.

I can tell you it is a massive relief to be done with Easter for another year. Easter is the biggest time for my website and for my social media accounts.

You might think that Christmas is the bigger holiday, but Easter is when everyone gifts food - chocolate.

You often receive chocolate from not just your immediate family but your extended family, your colleagues and in my case even my neighbour.

And that's where people stress out, they start googling and they find my website. ☺️

The numbers

I promised you that I would share some stats on how my Easter content went this year.

Thankfully it was better than previous years, so that means I will definitely do it again next year!

I put in so much work to my Easter content so it's important that it's seen by as many people as possible.

So let me start off by saying thank you to those people who shared my guides in gluten free groups, to the people who answered questions in those groups and tagged me or shared the link to my guide.

It's a huge help, and of course someone besides me recommending my guides is going to be 100% more authentic and more genuine. Plus it makes me smile. 🥰

Every year I release my guide as early as possible. This year it came out in February, a full two months before Easter.

I have to do this because massive brands like Cadbury are out January 1st. But it means that as we get closer to Easter, I have to constantly come back to my guide and update it as more information becomes available.

Thankfully there were no surprises or upsets this year. No sudden product changes so that was great (last year the white Lindt bunny came out with a may contain).

Looking over my stats across the two articles I had on my website about this year's Easter products I had well over 30,000 visits.

The guide itself got over 20,000!

Unfortunately I can't go back and find the stats for the guide from my first year, 2022, but I think it was under 10K.

So it's a massive growth and I'm really proud, but also really grateful.

Over on Instagram my Easter egg content saw me achieve my first reel to reach 10,000 views. That was such a lovely milestone, my following is much smaller on Instagram (just on 6k) but I post different content there and less frequently.

On Facebook... well let's say the views and reach would have run into the millions. The pineapple mini eggs posts went viral and even got a mention on a news website.

A bit of drama goes a long way

As you may know, Coeliac Australia does a Easter egg guide every year as well. It's available exclusively for members.

I have a membership with Coeliac Australia so I do see this every year. It's usually released close to Easter when my guide has been out for a month or more.

This year Coeliac Australia received a bit of backlash for making their guide available to non-members for a $7 fee.

It was really nice to see people replying to that post and mentioning my guide as a free resource. Unfortunately, those comments were deleted, but I did see them and I do appreciate them. 🙏🏼

I'm not going to take a position, I don't feel the need to. But I will reiterate that my aim is to always make my content available for free.

On the topic of free content, you might have seen a post where I mentioned I was trying to get a "promotion" with the ad service for my website. It's gone well and I'll make that the topic of next month's newsletter when I've got a bit more information to share.

What's next for Kati Keksi

I've got a schedule for content and suffice to say, I'm a little bit behind in terms of preparation. 😅 But I've got loads of ideas and I'm looking forward to sharing them with you.

I think I might need to do a survey at some point and see what people like the most. Product reviews are fairly straight forward to do compared to guides, but I need to know that they'll be read.

That's all from me for now, enjoy checking through the rest of the newsletter and any posts you may have missed.

Kati x
