February recap, the Easter guide 2025 is here!

Welcome to the Kati Keksi monthly newsletter, bringing together the latest content from the Kati Keksi website as well as highlights from social media including Facebook and Instagram.

Hey there!

February is already over, which means we're 1/6th of the way through 2025 - yikes.

February is a busy month for me as it's the final push to get my Easter content online. As soon as the year begins people are searching for gluten free Easter eggs.

I want to make sure I've got the most accurate information available so a new article each year is a must. It means many hours sitting at my laptop looking at product ingredients and then heading into stores to check in person.

It's the 4th edition this year and thankfully I've got a solid idea of which brands I can trust and which need to be triple checked. So it is getting easier. ☺️

As it gets easier I can focus on better photos, a good layout and adjustments that will (hopefully) improve ad placement. All of these give you a better experience and keep you coming back to my website. 🀞🏼

Shares, revisits and screenshots

I touched on this briefly in a Facebook post last week but I'll go into a bit more detail here.

Please don't take screenshots of website! πŸ™πŸΌ I know it's convenient, but it's not a good idea for you or for me.

For you - I update my website all the time. I go back to articles from 2022 and update them. If you screenshot it, you'll miss the updates.

This is particularly important for products that are no longer gluten free, like Mr Chen's pho kit which now has a may contain. πŸ™…πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

For me - Site statistics and revenue. If you take a screenshot you won't go back to the website when you need the information. That means I'll get fewer visits. If useful articles aren't getting visits I've got no reason to keep making or maintaining them.

Revenue is a bit more obvious. You scrolling past an ad while on my website gives me a small, but not insignificant, boost to my revenue.

Easter eggcitement

Related to this, I'm genuinely excited to see how this year's Easter Egg Guide is received. So many things have happened since Easter last year so I really cannot predict how many people will visit and use my guide.

My website has recovered from Google's 2024 search updates and of course I have a few more Facebook followers than this time last year. πŸ˜… about 17,000 more to be exact.

More baking in my future

I thought it might happen, that I'd start baking more frequently as my daughter got older. You might have seen last week I was attempting cheese and Vegemite scrolls.

They were a success! I liked them and my toddler liked them, a real winner.

I've always told people and brands that I'm not a baker. But maybe family life is going to change that. πŸ₯°
