Welcome to the Kati Keksi monthly newsletter, bringing together the latest content from the Kati Keksi website as well as highlights from social media including Facebook and Instagram. Hey there, I'm drafting this newsletter while I'm at the gym! I'm not one to show off about going to the gym, but after being sick for two weeks, and being sick for a week before that it's definitely something to shout about. Spending most of July with a cold has given me greater appreciation of my health. It also shows how much being an blogger / influencer is a one-person job. If I'm too tired to work, there's no one else to do it for me. π€·ββοΈ Crunching numbers Given the rant in last month's newsletter I figured it's time to go back to some insights on creator / blogger life. For a job as public as being an influencer, how it all works can be pretty opaque. How is success tracked? What kind of goals do they have? How much money do they make? It's all a bit esoteric, so lets go in with some hard numbers. I'll look at what's been happening this year, compare it to last year and see at where things currently sit. Some aspects are going really well and others are absolutely falling in a heap. A goal or a behind? Mid-year is always a good time to check in on my annual goals. I set goals not so much to constantly drive towards, but to get a sense of achievement. Sometimes it's easy to forget how far you've come. It's good to celebrate the little wins. βΊοΈ The biggest metric when you're an influencer is growth. That is, increasing how many people follow or view your content. In 2025 my Facebook page grew by over 35,000 and Instagram grew by around 6,000. It was a colossal amount and it blew me away. This year it's the opposite, Facebook growth has been modest while Instagram has taken off.
I did not see these coming at all! π I just re-read an old newsletter I sent out at the end of 2025. It was me complaining about how hard it is to grow on Instagram. π And it still is! However, I've had great success from new product reels, one led to something like 1,200 new people following me.
Yeaaaah this has slowed right down. I mean, it's a lot, absolutely - but to put things in perspective, last year my page went from 30k to 40k in 31 days. Website
I think 373,000 when we're 2/3 of the way through the year means I'll make it to 500k. It isn't a big stretch of a goal, I just thought that half a million views is a nice round number. π₯° In my first year, 2022, I had 17,000 views for the entire year! Mailing list
I'll note this looks like I'm really close, but it's actually excruciatingly slow to get newsletter subscribers. I might gain 60 a month, but lose 10 every time I send out a newsletter. π€·ββοΈ Buuuut with any luck I'll hit my goal by the end of the year! π€πΌ Does it mean much? I was thinking about this as I sat on the bike at the gym. "Where are you going with this feature? What emotion are you bringing across?" You might be looking at that and thinking, "Emotions Kati, what? It's a newsletter." When I write, I am quite deliberate.* I'm careful with how I chose my words and how I frame what I'm saying. Whether it's pointed, or poignant, I want to make sure my intention is clear. And for this newsletter it's just... facts. Definitely not me having a whinge. *for newsletters, not FB posts or stories. π I'm glad that I set goals across all of the aspects of the work that I do. Facebook was so huge for me in 2025 and I'm so grateful for it. But 2026 on Facebook has been a bit of a struggle. So being able to see that I am making great strides elsewhere is encouraging. It's important to keep up the motivation when the Facebook algorithm seems to be working actively against me. It's not me, it's Facebook Suffice to say, I work my ass off. Yes, it's definitely different from the roles I've had in an office doing 9 to 5. But I am always available, and my output has not wavered. However if you took a look at my stats on Facebook for this year, you'd think I'd fallen asleep at the wheel. It's all changed in the last two months. Where I was consistently getting 8 million views a month, I'm now down to 4 million. That might still sound like a lot, but consider this.
So 4 million views comes down to about 40,000 views per post. That means 1/3 of the people following me don't see my posts. At all. When your views are above the number of people following, things work differently. 8 million views a month, 80k views per post = 15,000 new people seeing your content. Those new people give you the opportunity to grow your page, either by following directly or sharing with their friends. That is why the growth of my page has somewhat stagnated. Yet my posts haven't changed! I'm still sharing new products, weekly specials and hidden gems. It's just the algorithm. Apparently it thinks y'all don't want to see my content. And hey, maybe you don't! Maybe you do want to see more AI generated recipes or videos of deceased celebrities visiting Starbucks. π€·ββοΈ Whatever the reason, thanks for being here - I really appreciate my newsletter for being able to say what's on my mind. The best part though is knowing that so so many of you actually open and read it. ππΌ Kati x PS If you are concerned that my posts aren't in your feed, you can adjust your settings for my page to show my posts at a higher frequency. Oh and if you're wondering what I earn: Across website ads, FB earnings, paid jobs with brands, affiliate sales and whatever else... Still less than full time minimum wage. But getting there, about 80% of the way. Latest posts on katikeksi.comβNot up to date with the website? Here's what I've been talking about this month.
